Russell, J. M. “Jack”

Jack was born in Nemo, Texas, to the late Francis Allen and Lillian Elizabeth (Bowen) Russell. He was a graduate of Cleburne High School and was selected All-State in football while playing for the Yellow Jackets. He went on to play for the Baylor Bears where he was named All-American. He graduated from Baylor University and after serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, went on to play eight years of professional football where he was named All-Pro in both the All American Conference and the National Football League. On Dec. 30, 1941, Jack married Dorothy “Dottie” Emshoff, in Waco. Mr. Russell was a retired businessman and was of the Lutheran faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dottie, on Aug. 29, 2005; three sisters; and two brothers.

Survivors included his son, James M. “Rusty” Russell and wife, Ellen; and his grandchildren, Adam and Erin Russell, all of Fort Worth.
