Reece Wilburne White was born July 19, 1925, the youngest son of Samuel White Jr. and Ruby Porter White. He was born on the ranch settled by his grandparents, Sam White and Sophie Jackson White and he lived there his entire life. A strong sense of family history instilled a love and respect for family, land and tradition into Reece. Having a rather large “yard” to play in as a kid helped Reece develop a love of nature and the outdoors. A real treat was to listen to Reece talk about the history of the land and its inhabitants, both human and non-human. He and his brother, Sam, protected and preserved a living part of Texas history. He was a man of few words but those words were heard and understood by all that were ever in his presence. Reece was a man that believed hard work, God and family were all you needed in the world and he had all three in his life. Reece lived a full life of 89 years and had a loving family. His wife, Susie, preceded him in death in May of 2006.
Reece was survived by his older brother, Sam White; his son, Tim White and daughter-in-law, Renee Hicks; his granddaughter, Kelsey Rose and her husband, Corey Rose; and his great-grandson, Corey Reece.
