George Stanley was born October 20, 1935, in Tahoka, Texas to Rufus Franklin Stanley and Ruth Ellen Smith.

George spent his younger years living in Grandview, Texas and attending school there. At the age of 23, and on a whim, he tested for the US Army and was enlisted. He served 2 different times, 1958-1960, where he was stationed at Fort Sheridan, Illinois before being sent to Germany. Where he enjoyed the single life. Upon his return to the state, this is where he met the love of his life, Linda Sue Goodwin, of Burleson, Texas. They married January 1, 1961, at a family members home. From 1961-1962 they were stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana. George was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Expert Badge (Rifle) and Expert Badge (Carbine), along with several unit pins.

In 1966, George welcomed his only child, Lisa Murlene Stanley into this world. His nickname for her was “Hey babe”.

George retired from Ryder Truck Rental as a diesel mechanic in 2003. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, traveling, and going to the casino. He had a love for his family that was unstoppable.

Survivors: Daughter, Lisa Stanley, Brothers, Joe Don Stanley of Alvarado, Texas, Jimmy and Jan Stanley of Rio Vista, Texas, Sister-in-law Cinda Goodwin Morton of Burleson, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Stanley, parents Rufus and Ruth Stanley, Brother Rufus Carl Stanley, Sisters, Jessie Lee Grant, Ora Belle Quattlebaum, and Patsy Ruth Dixon.
