Jack was born November 14, 1938 in Cleburne to C.T. and Mildred White Hewlett. Jack married Elizabeth Barnes on August 1, 1958 in Grandview.
Mr. Hewlett was a 1957 graduate of Cleburne High School and attended Texas A&M College. He worked as a dairyman before becoming the Sales Manager at Ford Dealership in Cleburne. After six years in the business, Jack and Elizabeth opened their own Plymouth dealership, which expanded over the years into a Chrysler Plymouth and Dodge dealership. Jack sold the dealership in 1987, after 28 years in the car business. After that, he owned several dairies, was elected County Commissioner of Johnson County Precinct #1, and served in that position from 1990-1994. In 1995, Jack began managing the courier and mail services for Hewlett Computer Services, and assisted his son, Justin, in that endeavor until his retirement in 2003.
Jack also served as Cleburne City Councilman for two terms in the mid-1970s, including the beginning of planning for what is now known as the Chisholm Trail Parkway. He was instrumental in the founding of the Cleburne Economic Development Foundation, and felt strongly this was essential to the growth of the County. Mr. Hewlett was a member of Granbury Street Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon and taught the High School Sunday morning class for many years.
