Georgia was born in Kopperl, Texas on April 10, 1928, the youngest child of Chester and Rosalie Brown. After marrying the love of her life, Cap Raymond Kelly, Sr., the couple moved to Houma, Louisiana. It was there that she would spend the next sixty years. As a life long resident of Houma, Georgia was very active in church, school and civic organizations. She was instrumental in the development of the Terrebonne Parish Genealogy Society.

Georgia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, neighbor and friend. Georgia loved working with genealogy, crossword puzzles, sharing her stories with her grandchildren and most of all cooking. She had countless cookbooks and her new recipe would always be the “best thing you ever put in your lips!” After her husband’s death, she worked in the admit department of Chabert’s Medical Center Hospital in Houma.for many years. For the final six months, Georgia lived in Tyler, Texas where she could be close to her grandchildren and their families.

Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Cap Raymond Kelly, Sr.,an infant daughter, her parents, brothers and sisters.

She was survived by her son, Cap Raymond Kelly, Jr, She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Doug and wife Heather Kelly of Tyler, Matt and wife Lindsay Kelly of Lindale, Texas, Brad (B.J.) and wife Melody Kelly of Hurst, Texas, Erin Kelly of Tyler, Hunter Regian of Tyler and their parents, Jeff and Nelda Regian of Tyler. Five great grandsons, Trent, Ryder, Nolen, Cade and Owen. One sister, Arlene Carlisle, of Kopperl, Texas. Many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

“Sweet Georgia Brown” was a unique lady who touched so many with her love and warmth. She will be greatly missed by those who shared her life.
