Martha Underwood Kelly was born on February 22, 1928, in a rural area around Glen Rose, Texas where at that time there was no electricity, to Green Marion Underwood and Laura Alice Acrea Underwood and she departed this life on December 16, 2019.She is with Jesus now. We know she is also enjoying walking and talking with her daughter Sandra, her granddaughter Michelle, and seeing her first love Lee again as well as Eddie who made her smile; as well as all the other friends and family that went before her like Vada Streun, who she also loved. I know she is catching everyone she sees in heaven up on the latest news. She is now walking, talking, singing, dancing and is well again, with no more pain. Remember all the funny stories she told, her recipes for great food, and most of all how much she loved everyone and wanted everyone together and wanted them all to succeed.Martha attended Glen Rose High School and was a cheerleader there. She would tell stories of cheering to the crowds “go Red”, “go White”. Martha did not graduate from Glen Rose High School. She lacked completing one subject when school was interrupted by her marriage to Lee. Later when she moved to Fort Worth, and after all those years, she received her GED, and went to TCJC to get her nursing license and card.Martha worked for the Pangburn Candy Company in Cleburne, Texas, Walls Manufacturing Company in Cleburne, Texas and at the Fireside Lodge nursing facility in Fort Worth, Texas for 29 years. Also, she worked doing private duty nursing and house calls.Martha married David Lee Kelly on June 21, 1946 at the age of 18. She tells of how she went to her friend, and classmate, Jenny Kelly’s home to spend the night with her after school one day. She met Lee who was on a horse and he chased her around the yard on that horse! She went back home and told her mom that that was the meanest boy she had ever been around and she was not going back. Well, as the story goes, she eventually dated this boy for several years, going to skating rinks, out to eat and other school events. After dating those years, they decided to elope and went to Keene, Texas where they were married by a 7th day Adventist pastor. Her parents were really upset that she eloped but eventually all was well. From this marriage there were three children; Linda, Sandra and David. Later, Martha and Lee would divorce and go their separate ways in life.Martha then married Edward Moyer on October 24, 1992, in Azle, Texas at the Lighthouse on Hwy. 730. She then gained a number of children and grandchildren. Eddie was her love and they enjoyed going to Polka dances, doing line dancing, bowling, going to the Masonic lodge to play bingo, eating out and enjoying the family, friends and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Martha was a great dancer, enjoying polkas and line dancing. You just couldn’t keep her down. She always enjoyed life even up to the end by making others smile. She was a little stubborn at times and always wanting things done just right. She loved the Lord with all her heart and when things got gloomy and challenging, she always said: God will provide, and, you know what? He always did.Martha loved her family and friends; telling everyone she loves her kids. She was a very strong, independent woman who overcame a lot of obstacles in her life. She was determined to make things better for everyone as long as she could. She enjoyed eating out but was an amazing cook. This Thanksgiving she was so happy to be in her kitchen and cooking up a storm. It made her happy that so many came to eat that day. And, everyone that attended her Thanksgiving meal did not go away hungry with her famous cornbread dressing, turkey, green beans, and lots of pies. But, several days later she admitted that, yes, she overdid it.Martha LOVED Christmas time, decorating the house and giving gifts. 2019 she is spending her first Christmas in heaven. I know she would ask that you keep the Christmas traditions she loved going for her.Martha was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Joe, Welda and Margaret, daughter: Sandra Jo Kelly Beck and son-in-law Bobby Gaudisek, granddaughter: Cari Michelle Camp, first husband: David Lee Kelly and second husband: Edward Moyer.Martha is survived by her daughter: Linda Gale Kelly Streun and son-in-law: Gerald Kenneth Streun, both of Noble, Oklahoma, son: David Wade Kelly of the home, Fort Worth, Texas, grandchildren: Sheila Beck Howard, Johnny Howard, Jason Camp, Christie and Clint Eads and Jeff and Kandace Streun, great-grandchildren: Johnny Lee Howard, Eddie and Jessica Howard, Denise Howard, Shawntae Shook, Lacey and Brandon Willis, Riley Lawson, Kennedy Eads, Tanner Eads, Brock Streun and Dylan Thurber, great-great-grandchildren: Christian ,Westyn,Jarrod,Tiffany,Nissy,Naim, Fallon,Gunnar,Sean Jr., Abellya,Arianna, and Joel and nieces and nephews: John Swain, and Michelle Swain.
