Harvey Pinson was born on January 6, 1833 in Hall County, Georgia. He was a Civil War Private in Company M, 1st Texas Infantry. This company was organized on May 5, 1862 in Trinity County, Texas, and Harvey was an original member of the company. Harvey was a prisoner of war for a brief period, having been captured in Maryland on September 16, 1862 and was exchanged on November 11, 1862. He fought at Gettysburg and was later wounded at Chickamauga.
