Willie Lee was born to F. Will Wels and Cora (Hunter) Wels on November 1, 1925, in Godley Texas. She lived on the family ranch and attended school at Godley. Soon after graduating high school, she married and settled in the George’s Creek area known now as Russell Ranch. She put in many long hard days working as a seasonal laborer and rancher, and was also a member of George’s Creek Baptist Church.
Willie Lee was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen W Russell; and sisters, Ollie, Inez, and Winnie.
She left behind her daughter, Ceta Moore; granddaughters, Jennifer Hunter and Kreshna Sheplear; four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
