Peggy Jean Cavasos was born July 10, 1927, in Cleburne, Texas, to Ola Bannister and James Monroe Cavasos. She passed away July 28, 2011, in New Braunfels, Texas, at the age of 84. Peggy was raised in Cleburne, Texas, and enjoyed her large and loving extended family. She had fond memories of time spent with her cousins at her grandparents’ home at Fort Spunky and the homes of her aunts and uncles in Cleburne. She was especially close to her father and was buried beside him at George’s Creek. She lost both her parents as a young woman and moved to Midland to be near her brother, Stanley, and his family. She married Jim Truelove on Jan. 29, 1955. They lived in Midland until the early ’90s, moving to Canyon Lake, Texas, to be near their children and grandchildren.
She worked many long hours as a waitress to help support her family. She worked at the Scharbauer Hotel coffee shop and Luigi’s Restaurant for several years. She loved all of her children fiercely and unconditionally, sacrificing much for their well-being. She was a loyal and empathic wife, sister, mother and friend, always willing to listen.
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother and father; an infant brother; her sisters, Hazel Baker, Annie Mae Cavasos and June Marsden; brothers, Stanley, J.M. and Gerald Cavasos, James, Oscar and Walter Baker; and her nephew, Joe Mack Cavasos.
She was survived by her children, Ginger Calk, Randall Carver, Rebecca Donnelly, Jeff Truelove, Kathy Simmons, Patricia Crawford, and James “Bo” Truelove. She loved her 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
