Mr. Jimmy Ray Turner, son of the late James Marvin and Mary C. Witherspoon Turner was born April 11, 1950 in Alvarado, Texas. He attended school in and around Waxahachie, Texas and was a member of the Waxahachie Fire-EMS from 1973 to 1993 serving as interim Fire Chief in 1992 and 1993 until his retirement. Upon retirement he worked in a few fields including driving buses for Waxahachie ISD. Jimmy was a professed born-again Christian and member of Park Meadow Baptist Church in Waxahachie, Texas
Jimmy married Sharon Murphy on May 26, 1972 and remained her devoted husband for the rest of his life. Together with Sharon, Jimmy is also survived by his daughter Shannon Johnson and her husband, Patrick Johnson and their son, Ben; his son Jacob Turner and his wife, Julie and their two children Jude and Ella. He also leaves behind his sister Dena Ann Turner Barnaby, her children Kaysa Turner Johnson, Ricky Barnaby and Catherine Jane (C.J.) Barnaby with their children Miah, Jeremiah, Mystery, and Jayden.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother Tommy Lee Turner who left no surviving children, and his sister Cathy Marie Turner Kennedy who left behind two children, Kena Turner Long-Jordan and James Kennedy and their own children, Spenser, Keagan and Hayley.
Jimmy went home to be with his Lord and preceding family at 3pm on January 3rd, 2019 at Baylor Scott & White – Waxahachie. His wonderful life will forever remain cherished in the lives of his wife, sister, children, nieces, nephews, many cousins, aunts, uncles, church family and Waxahachie Fire-EMS family.
