Donald Odell Cheek was born Dec. 28, 1935, in Johnson County to Doc Orso and Eva Lena Wood Cheek. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He was a lifelong resident of Johnson County and a graduate of Joshua High School. He was a 17th degree York Rite, a 32nd-degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was the owner of Don Cheek Real Estate. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors: Sons, Derek Cheek of Hale Center, Jett Cheek and wife, Nancy, of Denton, Don Cheek and wife, Robyn, of Grapevine, Lane Cheek and wife, Laura, of Denton and Laron Cheek and wife, Lisa, of The Colony; stepson, Gary Walden of Santa Fe, N.M.; stepdaughter, Kathy Irwin and husband, David, of Lubbock; sisters, Hattie Bell Stewart of Austin and Anita Martinec Rader of Moore Haven, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; and numerous other family members.
